The aim of this work was to assess the historical evolution of platinum and palladium prices from 2015 to October 2023 and to identify the impact of geopolitical events on these prices. The objectives were achieved using content analysis, linear regression, correlation analysis and the method of comparison. The findings showed that platinum and palladium had very different price trends during the period under study and there is no correlation between them. Geopolitical events such as industrial demand, COVID-19 pandemic, military and political tensions, monetary policy and inflation have influenced the price development of metals. The paper concludes by suggesting that palladium appears to be a more suitable instrument for storing and multiplying funds compared to platinum. The results of this study offer scope for further research with a longer time span and extension to other metal commodities to provide new and more detailed insights.
